The pheta on this one is wound in gold and then covered in flowers — cream and butter-yellow roses, gold leaves, crystal brooches pinned between them. The shawl and dhoti are golden brocade with silver zari lace at the hem and tiny crystal booti scattered across the folds. He sits on a magenta cushion on a stepped bronze base, one foot forward.
Made in Pen from shadu mitti and finished with lightweight decorative florals rather than heavy stone work, which keeps the piece light for its size.
Strip the florals before immersion, and the idol underneath is nothing but river clay — no plaster, no resin, no paint that leaches.
