Dagdusheth Feta Ganesh Idol 16" — Peacock Teal

No Reviews

A peacock-teal pheta fans out behind the head, gathered at the front with a pearl brooch and bound in gold cord — the Maharashtrian turban tied the way it is tied in Pune. The same teal runs through the shawl and dhoti, bordered in navy and gold zari, and the jewellery is set with emerald-green stones. A white mushak sits on the gold-cornered base, and a violet cushion shows beneath.

This is the Dagdusheth face — the one modelled on the Halwai Ganpati that draws a million people a year to Budhwar Peth. Ours is made in Pen from shadu mitti, hand-finished with real fabric drapery rather than painted-on cloth, which is why the pleats read as silk rather than clay.

The fabric and jewellery are removable. What goes into the water is clean river clay that breaks down naturally — safe for Australian waterways, safe for the fish in them.
